How to Organize a Fashion Show

London Fashion Week 2019 continues this weekend with the likes of Burberry and Victoria Beckham presenting their designs to an eager crowd of fashion enthusiasts. Fashion shows are a great way to fundraise for charities or to host for pure enjoyment; they give designers a platform to showcase their designs to different communities. Here are our top tips on organizing your very own fashion show.

1. Decide on a Theme

If you are not showcasing your own designs, communicate with the fashion designer about the theme of the catwalk. It is important to understand the collection and associate it with the design and presentation of the event.

2. Create a Guest List

Who will you be inviting to the event? Is it a free event open to the local community or a private ticketed event? Create a guest list and estimate the number of guests that you hope to attend your fashion show.

3. Find a Venue

If you do not already have a venue for your fashion show, you should start searching for venues that will accommodate your audience. Remember to consider the location and accessibility of the venue; is it easy to get to via public transport and is there sufficient parking? Aim to book a venue far in advance so that you can send out your invitations at least a month prior to the event.

4. Employ Staff/Volunteers

Fashion shows require a great deal of manpower; you may require front and back of house staff, make-up artists, hairdressers, models, caterers and/or a DJ. Create a list of people that you will need to help you run your show.

5. Design the Set

Design the set and decide what furniture you require. Will you need a stage? Consider the lighting, flooring and seating you will need and search for reputable suppliers to provide for your event.

6. Hold a Practice Run

Once everything is set up it is crucial to have a few practice runs with the models and DJ to ensure that the catwalk runs on time and looks good from the audience. A practice show will also help the models and staff to feel more confident and decrease the chance of error during the event.

These basic steps will help you to plan a successful fashion show. Chair Hire is a reputable furniture hire company that can provide you with the perfect furniture for your catwalk.
