Is the Top Table Over-rated?

A stunning wedding reception venue was recently designed using our banqueting tables and 60 of our elegant limewash Chiavari chairs - see our pics to see how pretty these chairs really are.

A tale of two tables?

In addition to our limewash Chiavari chairs, our client also choose products from our 6ft rectangular and circular trestle table hire ranges. We always love going to different sites and visiting locations set up with our furniture, as each event has its own style and look. This occasion saw a photography studio installed with our chic seating and tables covered in gleaming white linens - and it reminded us how important it is to get the right tabling for your function.

Table hire for weddings - what you need to know!

We realised it’s essential to ask the right questions when it comes to furniture hire choices for weddings or similar dining occasions - and here’s a selection you might want to mull over!

1. Do you need a top table?

Weddings often feature a lot of tradition, but it’s entirely up to you what you’d like to include in your reception. Some couples swear by a table plan for instance, while others encourage guests to sit where they like. Although table placement may depend partly on the size and shape of the venue you’ve hired, generally you’ll have lots of freedom over table rental type.

A top table is often reserved for the bride and groom, bride and bride or groom and groom as well as their immediate family members, but for a more informal feel, lots of couples simply sit with their guests at the same tables. As you can see from the images of this venue, this is exactly what our clients chose, and other events we’ve been to suggest this is becoming quite popular for today’s modern wedding receptions.

2. What shape table will suit your function?

Traditional wedding venues are often linked with sumptuous venues, that offer delicate lighting and beautifully dressed chairs gathered around circular banqueting tables with matching linen. Round tables like this really up the sophisticated vibe in locations, which is probably why they’re chosen for lots of other premium events that we’ve delivered furniture rental products to, such as award shows and Government department meals.

Mix and match…

Our recent client actually chose 9 6ft rectangular trestle tables, and one 4ft round trestle table, which was for the cake. The rectangular tables fitted perfectly with the vintage theme and the general informal, yet stylish ambiance. It’s a good idea to take a tip from our client, and remember that not all rental tables will be used for eating - some might be for buffets, cakes, and crockery - and getting the right size and shape for these different uses is important too.

3. Is it important tables and rental chairs match?

You can achieve lots of different looks by dressing your tables - and even your chairs! - in different ways. Go sleek and sophisticated by selecting banqueting chairs with black covers and round banqueting tables with black table cloths - an ivory bow can add an extra feeling of style! Or you could opt for white chair covers, table cloths and bows in lots of different colours, for a fresh, deluxe wedding reception. Here, you can see how our Chiavari chair rental range complemented the rectangular banqueting tables and white table cloths, creating a really elegant and beautiful look.
