Planning Your Outdoor Event Around the Bad Weather

With reports of this August being the wettest on record and the cancellation of many large events, it is important to consider how the weather may impact your outdoor event this summer. Whether you are holding a private function or large corporate event, the rain can easily ruin your guest’s experience which is why you must prepare for bad weather whatever the month. Here are our top tips on planning ahead for the rain.

Find a Venue That Has Indoor Space for Guests

The best idea for a summer event in the UK is to ensure your venue has space both inside and outside for guests. This means that if it starts to rain or gets cold your guests can gather inside but they can also spend their time outdoors if the sun comes out. It is important to make sure you give guests fun things to do both indoors and outdoors so no matter where they end up spending their time they will still have an enjoyable experience. Our outdoor games such as 4 in a row, chess and mega tower can all be easily transported and moved inside if it rains.

Expect the Worst

When planning an outdoor event you should always think about the worst-case scenario. Expect pouring rain and thunder so that if it does happen you will not need to worry. Plan your event as usual, for example with a BBQ and bean bags on the grass but consider what you would do with this furniture if the weather takes a turn for the worst. If you want to add a pop of colour to your event, browse our bean bags for hire which come in a range of colours.

Emergency Kit

Prepare an emergency kit for the rain; this could include things like blankets, umbrellas and waterproof sheets to cover furniture that cannot be easily moved. Waterproof sheets are especially important to cover electrical equipment if you have music or a live band outside. Even with preparation, it is crucial to keep an emergency kit to ensure guests are happy throughout the event.

Outdoor Shelter

Gazebos are the perfect item to protect guests from the rain at an event that is outdoors. Not only do they provide shelter from the rain but they can create shade in sunny weather so they are ideal for any weather condition. Our 3x3m gazebos come in both white and black and can be hired with or without sides.

Don’t let the rain ruin your outdoor event plans, be sure to continuously check the weather forecast on the days leading up to your event and keep guests updated at all times if you make any changes to your event.
